I’m sorry, I know, I know, I’ve been off grid for ages. It’s for various reasons, which I guess could be summed up by saying I’ve been adjusting to my new life here. There’s been lots going on and I’ve just started a new job too, but I’ll be blogging when I can. Anyway, for now, here’s an update on some new products I’ve picked up lately (all available in the UK) and my first experience of nail art in Melbs!
Nail Art at Trophy Wife
This weekend I decided to brighten myself up and have my nails done with gels. Having never had my nails done in Melbourne before I wasn’t really sure where to go, but a look on Urban List told me Trophy Wife in Richmond was a pretty good spot for something a bit FANCEH. I knew I wanted nude as a base as it’s my nail colour of favour and it goes with pretty much every outfit, but I did want a little bit of jazzification (real word) too. So, I had a little scroll through their Instagram for inspiration in advance (@trophywifenailart – check it out) and ended up going for this design in nude and rose gold (you’ll have to excuse my knobbly fingers, as a hand model I am not). I LOVE THEM! The lady next to me was having a pretty cool marble effect with gold flakes on hers, so that’s on my wishlist for next time.
Bondi Sands Tan
Next up, oooooh – Bondi Sands! Again, when in Rome (Rome being, obviously, Australia) one must try Bondi Sands. I’ve heard loads about this tanning brand from vloggers back in the UK who rave about it and say it’s the best self-tan they’ve ever tried, so I decided to pick some up and see what all the fuss is about. I went for a mousse (dark, natch) and a gradual tanning milk to cover all bases.
I’ve just tried out the mousse so far: it’s very light and easy to work with and applies really smoothly, and it has a pleasant coconut scent which is a hell of a lot nicer than some of the other tans out there. I’d say the guide colour is pretty true to what you are going to end up with, which is a warmer, more golden tone than St Tropez. There’s an oil in the range too which I might end up graduating to in the summer as apparently you can literally just apply and go rather than having to wash it off the next day. It’s a thumbs up for Bondi Sands!
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream
Another product I’ve heard loads about is the NYX soft matte lip cream, so I picked one in nude, and one in my trademark fuschia pink. I really like this. It’s not a gloss as it isn’t shiny, but then it’s not really as heavy and drying as a matte lipstick either, so the formula is sort of a happy medium. They have a really nice light consistency and are really easy to wear, and are pretty reasonably priced (yipee)!
I’ve also been getting into lip liners recently as I find my lip colour lasts so much longer if I use a pencil as a base. For a nude lip I’ve been using a Topshop Lip Contour (nice but the shade’s a bit too beige for my skintone) and for pink, a Revlon Colourstay one.
That’s all for now folks! I’ll try not to keep you waiting six weeks for another post next time! Xx
